January 13th...1971 - In one of hockey's biggest trades, the Montreal Canadiens obtained Frank Mahovlich from Detroit, in exchange for Bill Collins, Guy Charron and Mickey Redmond.
1985 - Playing in his 436th career game, Wayne Gretzky scored his 400th career NHL goal and added two assists in a 5-4 Oilers' win over the Sabres at Buffalo. Gretzky became the 23rd player in the NHL to reach the 400 goal mark.
2003 - Jeff Friesen set a New Jersey Devils team record when he scored twice within a span of 26 seconds, during the second period of a 6-2 win against the visiting Florida Panthers.
2004 - Tom Fitzgerald and Gary Roberts became the first teammates in NHL history to play in their 1,000th NHL game in the same night as the Maple Leafs won 4-1 against the visiting Calgary Flames. Fitzgerald scored a goal in the game.
