Returning Monday/Site News

Hey Power Players!

Just wanted to let you know that after a few days of not posting, The Power Play will return on Monday to give you your much needed fix of hockey coverage filled with inappropriate jokes.

And after celebrating my 1000th post this past week, there will be some big exciting changes happening to the site. Unfortunately Carrie Underwood being a guest blogger isn't one of them. Believe me, I tried.

Who Knew?

Apparently TSN is a fan of The Power Play and is sending secret messages to let the world know.

In the above article featured on their site, they even go so far as to declare themselves fans, also known as "Power Players." Or based upon the picture, maybe they're saying Team Canada are fans. I never thought about that.

No matter who it's about, I just want to say thanks for the support. (Free advertising) It's nice to know I have a big national sports outlet behind me, or a group of socially awkward, highly skilled 19 year old hockey players. Either one is fine with me.

One Year Anniversary!

It's official! The Power Play has turned one year old!

What started out back on November 27th, 2007 with me reading a sports blog and thinking, "Hell, I can do that" has turned into a worldwide phenomenon. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration.

It's been a fun ride with just over 845 posts and The Power Play having been quoted or linked to by some big shot websites like, Puck Daddy, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, Perez Hilton, Deadspin, and With Leather.

I also can't say thank you enough times to you the reader for checking out The Power Play day after day! It's you guys that make it all worthwhile! To see this blog of mine read all over the world from Canada to as far away as China has been amazing!

And thanks to everyone who has added The Power Play as their friend on Facebook! If you haven't gotten in on that, what are you waiting for? An invitation? Well consider this your invitation buster.

I've had a lot of fun this first year, and I look forward to what the second year brings!

p.s. Happy Columbus Day to our American readers! Ah Columbus Day! The day where you honour the Columbus Blue Jackets' amazing streak of not making the playoffs. Or maybe it has something to do with Christopher Columbus? I must have missed that day in history class.

New Design!

Hey Power Players!

Summertime is a time to reflect, a time for change. And The Power Play is getting in on that by changing up the design of the site!

After 9 months of the same design, both you and I became familiar with the old blue and white layout. This new, sharper design is both exciting and bold and brings a much needed fresh new look to the blog!

500th Post!

What an exciting milestone for The Power Play!

This post marks the 500th post of this young blog's history!

It seems like just yesterday that I started this up in hopes of amusing you all with my wildly hilarious opinions on hockey. Blogs sure grow up fast don't they!

Thanks for reading The Power Play day in and day out! It's because of you Power Players that I do this! Well and also for the blog groupies. Bloggies as I call them.

So rest easy Power Players as now without having to type a long address to access this little pot o' gold I call a hockey blog, you'll have lots of extra time on your hands to go get out of your parents basement and experience what the world has to offer!
